Playing in the mud

Today I let the kids play in the sprinkler. I didn't imagine that it would turn into a big mud puddle for them to play in. I don't know what I was thinking. I guess I figured that they would play in the water and get a little grassy. I didn't think about them turning the sprinkler upside down and holding it inches from the ground. But they had so much fun playing. And of course it was followed by a bath. They were pretty muddy. Here are a few pictures from their day of mudding.

Emma eating her popsicle. I don't know how she got the little mud goatee, but it was pretty funny. You can't really see it in this one, but the other picture I took was too blurry and I got tired of trying to get her attention. I'm glad that they both had fun though. Every kid should get to play around in the mud. Maybe some other day we can do mud pies!!

Siblings Class and Pizza

I know what your thinking...why in the world would my kids need to go to a siblings class they are already pros at it! Well, it was this class offered by the hospital that will be delivering my baby and it was free. Plus they got some neat stuff as well. They started out talking about what babies eat and that we don't feed them M&M's or Skittles. And how to hold the baby and that they need to get mom or dad when the baby is crying and not hold him by his toes. They learned about the soft spot and that you don't touch the babies head. They gave all the kids a tour of the labor floor and C-Section rooms. And let them know where mom would be. They also were able to see a set of little girl twins that had been born and their umbilical cords. The kids really enjoyed it. And it was fun for me also since they are remodeling the whole floor. I got to see all the new labor rooms and postpartum rooms. These ones now have new showers (which were needed) and couches that fold out into beds for daddy! And flat screens in every room! The kids got a bag after the class was over. It was one of the lunch cooler type that they can put snacks in for when they are waiting for baby, some coloring pages and crayons, a certificate saying they took the class, a monkey stuffed animal with a shirt that said ' I'm a big brother/sister!', a card that they can get all the stats of baby and foot printed. They also received all this stuff in their bags. The kids are really enjoying playing with them.

And we can't forget Dr. Paisley. She saw that Emma and Andrew were playing and she needed in on it.

I had bought some latex gloves so I could work with some jalapenos and James had given Andrew a set earlier that day. It was Andrew who had to put them on because that's what doctors use. He's so cute. And since then has been saying that he wants to be a doctor.

Last night I decided it would be fun to make pizzas with the kids. They so enjoyed it. I put the cheese on and they did the rest. It was a huge hit. And they ate every bit of it. Even the Canadian bacon and pepperoni. I wasn't sure they would eat the meat, but I was pleasantly surprised. Here's a picture of us with the finished pizzas. Emma looks a little dazed, but it was the best picture we were able to get.


I look a little crazed. I wasn't really. Just tired of smiling waiting for Emma to look up and smile.

And since I had the camera out the kids wanted their pictures taken. None of Paisley though, she was taking a nap. But she does like to take pictures...sometimes.

And Emma had to get in on it too. She loves to take daddy's iPhone and take pictures with it. She even knows how to go and look at them once she's taken them. Kids these days are too smart.


They love each other. No matter what it looks like sometimes. And yes Emma is a little taller than Andrew. Poor fellow. I hope he gets taller!

Andrew's first tee-ball game

Andrew had his first game yesterday and of course we had to document it. What kind of parents would we be if we didn't! It was so funny to watch them. there were kids throwing bats because they were a little excited and let go when they swung, all the kids running right for the ball (no matter what position they played), and kids plowing on the tee like it was a digery doo. (Not sure if that's how you spell it, but it's an instrument.) The nice thing is there are no outs, there are no strike outs, they don't take score, and everyone gets a turn at bat. I think he really enjoyed it and was definitely a tired boy afterward.

Happy Easter

We had fun this year just doing a little hunt at our house. We also dyed eggs the night before. This was a first for us. Maybe it's a bad mom thing, but I don't like my kids getting dirty. I know they're kids and they will clean up, but I just had night mares of the stained hands and everything. But luckily this year was General Conference so we didn't have to worry about showing up to church dyed different colors! But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm trying!!

We got up and the kids got their Easter baskets.

Digging in! I think they liked everything they got. Especially the candy! The night before I was telling Andrew that the Easter bunny was going to come and bring them an Easter basket. Then I figured I would tell him why we celebrate Easter. I was explaining to him about the Resurrection and how Jesus died and then came back to life for us. After I said that Jesus had died and came back to life, Andrew informed me that he turned into a bunny. At that point I knew that I should have explained the Resurrection first and then went on to the Easter bunny. Live and learn I guess. But I did think it was kind of funny.


Here are some of the pics from the Easter hunt. Emma was helping Paisley put eggs in her basket. She has become such a big helper lately and I'm enjoying having 2 big helpers. Especially with Brody on his way.

Updates...get ready for a long one!

Hello everybody!!!

So it has been a while since I updated this thing and I figured that now would be as good of a time as any. James and I celebrated our 6 year anniversary on the 20th of February. We were able to take pretty much the whole day and went on a trip to Little Rock by ourselves. We did a little shopping, visited a friend, went to a wonderful bakery, and then had a WONDERFUL dinner at a place called Loca Luna. It was really good and if you ever happen to be in Little Rock you should check it out. And try the cheese dip. AMAZING!! (It was featured on Rachel Ray's Tasty Travels one time so since it was close enough for me to go I've been wanting to for a while.) It was nice to be able to sit and talk and not have kids asking a million questions or us having to worry about where the kids went. It was nice.


A couple of weeks after that we were able to purchase a mini van. I know it's one of those dreaded things, but I was SUPER excited about it. I still haven't figured out what the stigma is about those things, but man are they handy. Easy to get in and out of. We got a 2005 Dodge Grand Caravan. It's got the stow and go seating. If you ever have to buy a mini van, make sure it has stow and go. It's a wonderful thing. And gives you extra space and everything. Love it!

Isn't it so pretty! I guess you could say that I'm a soccer mom now. Only none of my kids play soccer yet.

As far as sports, I signed Andrew up for tee-ball this year. I'm excited about this too. (It doesn't take much these days!!) I think he's going to do a great job and it's going to be fun watching him play. I'm sure there will be videos up sooner or later. His team is called the Hooks. And we had our first meeting today and got to meet the coach and some of the players. James and I ordered shirts and hats for ourselves and I'm sure that we'll have them put mom and dad on the back of them. He'll be sporting the number 10. (Pictures to follow as soon as we get the shirts.)

The other day James got off work and I figured that since it was such a nice day we should take the kiddos out for a walk. We went to a local trail and the kids had a ton of fun. We plan on trying to do that at least once or twice a week.

This picture cracks me up cause it's like they're stair stepped. I guess it's by age! How funny! But we'll have to figure out how to work things once Brody gets here. We're running out of room.

And of course speaking of Brody, we had an ultrasound done today. And I had my sugar test. Yucky, yucky orange drink! Oh, well, it's necessary! My wonderful Dr. asked me at my last appointment if I was going to get the 4d ultrasound. And I told him no mainly because I didn't want to pay the $200 to have it done. (Don't get me wrong it's really neat, but it's alot of money.) So he tells me that he is going to comp one for me! That means FREE!!! So I was able to see my little man in 4d. And of course he had to be difficult. We were in there for quite a while because he had everything covered up. Stinker! In a 4d ultrasound they can remove some of the things in front to see what's behind, but it distorts them. He not only had his hands in front of his face, but his feet as well. Yes my son is very flexible. Everything looks good and I won't know for sure about my sugar test until tomorrow.
We got lots of shots of his feet. I thought this was sweet cause it's like he's just hanging out relaxing in there.

And he's definitely a Saniger baby. Like I said he had his hands and feet over his face so it's a little distorted. He actually moved his feet and we just couldn't get him to move one of his hands. When he finally did we got very few good shots. This being one.

This one cracked me up because if you look he's got his feet in between some of his fingers. and that flat surface by his hand is his forehead.
