It's that time!

My first daughter's second birthday! I can't believe that Emma is 2! It's wild. The kids just seem to grow up way too fast. Well, to start everything off, 2 years ago (the night before around ten at night) I was being walked around Wal-Mart (by my SIL) to see if we could get labor started. (Even though I was going to be going in in the morning to be induced.) Then about midnight or so I called to the labor and delivery to tell them I thought I was leaking fluid and to find out if I should come in now or just wait until the morning to come in for the induction. They told me I could do whatever I thought, but that they had to tell me that I should come in, so I did. And there was no leakage. But I was having contractions. So they said that I hadn't changed enough to keep me, but I could wait a little longer and see if I changed or just go home. James and I opted to go home and get a little sleep. And I do mean a little because we left the hospital at 1:30 and had to be up at 5:30 to call and see if I could be induced. But the fun thing was that by the time the nurse came in with all the paperwork I was doubling over from the contractions. So we went home and came back in at 6:00. And low and behold I had dilated from 2cm to 5cm. So she was going to come whether I was induced or not. After some fairly hard contraction and an epidural it was time to push. Let me tell you it's a whole lot easier the second time around. I started pushing at around 12:17 and she was born at 12:23. There was a little trouble when her head came out and they realized her cord was wrapped around her neck. So they cut the cord before she was all the way out and the Dr. took her over to get her breathing better. I remember everyone saying she was a big girl, but didn't think she looked that big. Then they called out 9 13. And I was thinking to myself, "it's not after 9, it's almost 12:30." Then the realization came to me that they were meaning 9 lbs 13 oz!!! Yes she was big!! And that's the story of how Emma got here. So here are some of the pics through the years.

This is the first time that i got to see her. Right before they took her to the nursery for like an hour or more and then I was finally able to hold her. Just look at those chuncky cheeks!!

Andrew getting to meet Emma for the first time.

Getting ready to go home. She so cute and little!!

The first birthday. She had some cake, can you tell? A couple of months earlier at Andrew's birthday she had grabbed someones cupcake out of their hand and shoved as much of it in her mouth as she could. She knew it would get taken away quickly I guess.

This is Emma today! She's seems to be sooo excited to be 2! Or not, but either way she's my beauty. I tried all day to get a picture of her smiling, but was unable. So this will have to do.

This is what her hair looked like from the top. She was the princess today!

Wow, it's kind of crazy! Birthdays really are as significant to mothers as they are to children. As painful as labor is, there's NOTHING so special in life as those first hours with your newborn in the hospital. So happy day to you both!
